Over 1,000 Community Members Attended 3rd Annual Health Fair in East L.A.
Los Angeles, California — More than 1,000 participants attended the third annual “Por La Salud de East L.A.” Health Fair on Saturday July 26th, 2008. The fair, sponsored by the Association of Professionals and Students, sought to continue to address health care issues in lower income families by offering a number of free health services to the East Los Angeles community.

UCLA Conference Attended by over 500 Students and Professionals
Los, Angeles-Over 500 students and professionals attended APS' 9th Regional Conference at UCLA this past Saturday, June 28th, 2008. The event, which aimed at instilling a sense of commitment to social service in its participants, was attended by individuals from over 9 states including: Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Illinois, Arizona and California.

1st Southwestern Regional Student Conference
Saturday March 29th, 2008. High School students were encouraged to go on to higher education, college and university students were urged to complete their studies. “You can be a big help with a high school diploma, but you can make a bigger difference with a degree,” said Antonio Gaona, a local Pastor and community leader, who welcomed students from Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho and Utah to the city of Phoenix.

The Presentation discussed diabetes in general; what it is, its symptoms and complications, what risks exist, and most importantly, how to prevent oneself from contracting diabetes. Including a variety of visual aids which were used to emphasize the importance of controlling and monitoring the sugar.
