Vice President, Mrs. Abisag Ayala, Esq. was present to announce the news and appointment of Mr. Nick Ynda as the Chapter Director. Mr. Ynda has served as a dedicated APS board member for a couple of years and is presently a UC Hastings law student. Dozens of members from APS were present at the event, including students that came from the cities of Gilroy, San Francisco, Rodeo, Sacramento, and Oakland to show their support. Other APS staff members were also present including Board members Mr. Felipe Godinez and Ms. Vasni Briones. Prominent members in the community also came to show their support including the Light of the World pastors, Mr. Daniel Mendoza, Mr. Jonathan Mendoza and Mr. Elias Duran who say they have already seen how APS has had a positive impact in the communities where their parishes are located. APS has already been active in this region, conducting several Employment Rights presentations to help the blue-collar workers and in the fall of 2007 hosted the Western Regional Conference in the bay area specifically at University of California Hastings which was met by much support from the neighboring communities.

This past Saturday marked the beginning of a new chapter in APS’ life as a leader in the community empowering its members and professionals with its motto, “My profession at the service of my community.” There are already plans for the San Francisco Chapter to implement programs that target low-income communities and students in the region. Surely, just as its past has demonstrated excellence and integrity this new direction that APS is heading will be just as positive and fruitful.
